The Drummer

Randy Giles is a Vancouver Canada based drummer with an artistic and passionate groove rooted in the traditions of Jazz, Funk and R&B though he is also very much at home with everything from orchestral percussion to hard hitting Rock and Roll.

Giles grew up on a steady diet of Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Jimmy Smith, Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis and everything Blue Note! A multi-instrumentalist, he studied music through the Royal Conservatory of Music and cut his teeth playing drums with some great bands and outstanding musicians on the west coast and in the clubs and restaurants of Vancouver Canada including The Cave, Soft Rock Cafe, Rossini's Jazz Bar,  The Hot Jazz Club and the Commodore Ballroom. Off of the coast Randy has performend from Montreal to Alberta's Banff Centre For The Arts.

After time spent in the corporate world Giles is happy to again be playing great music and recording with some extraordinarily talented west coast musicians.

Randy plays drums with his jazz band The West Coast Jazz Project and from time to time Randy can also be found bringing together the pieces of his R&B, Soul, Funk blend band Groovetown Express. Randy also dabbles in music composition.
